Stop 4 · The House

Estate Cleanout in Spring, TX

An estate follows the same five stops, but with one step before any of them: the family goes through first. The crew comes after, for what is left.

Sequence

How the Work Is Usually Sequenced

  1. 1

    Paperwork first

Find the documents the estate needs: deeds, titles, account statements, insurance papers. These are often in the least likely places, including the attic.

  2. 2

    Family picks

Relatives take what they want. Mark those items or move them to one room.

  3. 3

    Sale or donation, if any

Some families hold an estate sale before the haul. The crew comes after.

  4. 4

    Then the five stops

Garage, attic, shed and yard, the house, anything outside. Same order as any cleanout.

Scope

What a Hauling Crew Does, and Does Not

The scope, plainly

A crew carries out and hauls away what the family has decided not to keep. It does not appraise, it does not decide what is valuable, and it does not handle legal questions about who may clear the house. Those belong to the family, an appraiser, and the executor or an attorney.

If the house has been empty for a while and has pest, water or mold problems, those need their own trades before or after the cleanout.

Scale

A Note on Spring Houses

Northampton's development began in 1968 and Champion Forest's in 1976, and the median home in Cypresswood dates to 1979. A house lived in by one family since then holds a full attic, a full garage and usually a shed. Plan for more than one visit.

FAQ

Estate Questions

Should the family go through everything first?

Usually, yes. Take out what the family wants, and papers that the estate may need, before a crew comes. A crew hauls what is left; it does not decide what matters.

Does the crew deal with probate or the executor?

No. Who has authority to clear the house is a legal question for the executor or an attorney. The hauler takes instructions from whoever books and pays for the job.

Can this be done in stages?

Yes. Many estate cleanouts happen over two or three visits as the family works through rooms.

When the Family Is Ready

Call when the family has taken what it wants. Say how many rooms and whether the garage and attic are full. An independent Spring-area contractor quotes what is left.
