After Water, Carpet Is a Hauling Job and Mold Is a Separate One
Wet carpet and pad are heavy and they do not dry out properly once they have soaked through. Pulling them and getting them out of the house is hauling. Treating what the water left behind is not.
Texas licenses mold work. Remediation of mold covering 25 contiguous square feet or more has to be done by a licensed contractor, and a single licensee cannot both assess and remediate the same project. A homeowner can clean up mold in their own home without a license. A hauling crew is neither of those: it takes the material away.
Kinds of Flooring, and What Comes With Them
Carpet and pad
Rolled in sections; tack strip and staples usually come up too.
Laminate and vinyl plank
Floats over the slab on underlayment, so it comes up fast and goes out in stacks.
Glued vinyl or tile
Slow to remove. Removal of glued-down flooring is often a flooring contractor's job, with the hauler taking the debris.

Will the hauler pull the carpet up too?
Some contractors pull carpet and pad as part of the job, and some only haul what is already up. Ask when you call. Tack strip and staples are the slow part.
Is wet carpet a mold problem?
It can become one. In Texas, mold remediation on 25 contiguous square feet or more requires a licensed remediation contractor. Hauling wet carpet away is not remediation; if there is visible mold on walls or the subfloor, call a licensed company.
Can old carpet go out with MUD trash?
Sometimes in small amounts. Harris County MUD 383 allows one room of carpet, cut and bundled. A whole house is a load.
