Attic Cleanout in Spring, TX
The attic is stop two. When its ladder drops into the garage, as pull-down ladders often do, it waits until the floor below is clear.
Why Attic Work Here Is a Morning Job
Houses in Spring sit on slabs or, in older sections, pier-and-beam. There is no storage floor below grade, so decades of holiday bins, baby furniture, old files and spare parts go up the pull-down ladder instead. The attic is also the hottest room in the house: on a summer afternoon it runs well above 120°F.
That shapes the job. A crew carrying boxes across ceiling joists in that heat is slower and less careful, so attic work tends to happen early. Boxes that have baked for years often split or crumble, and it helps to warn the contractor if you know things are fragile.

What Tends to Be Up There
Seasonal storage
Holiday bins, artificial trees, outdoor cushions. Usually light, awkward and numerous.
Paper
Tax files and old records. Decide before the crew comes what gets shredded; a hauler moves boxes, it does not sort papers.
Furniture pieces
Crib parts, headboards, a table that came apart. Some of these will not fit back down the ladder opening without being taken apart.
Things with rules
Old paint cans and pesticide bottles end up in attics too. They go to household hazardous waste, not the truck.
Before the Crew Climbs Up
- Clear a landing zone under the ladder, in the garage or hallway.
- Check that the ladder itself is sound. A cracked tread is a reason to stop and fix before anyone carries weight on it.
- Know where the walkable decking ends. Stepping between joists goes through drywall.
- Flag anything you want to look through before it leaves.
Attic Questions
Why not start with the attic?
Because everything that comes down the ladder needs somewhere to land. With a full garage, attic boxes end up stacked in the kitchen. Clear the garage first and they come straight down to the driveway.
Is it safe for a crew to be up there in summer?
Spring attics run well above 120°F on summer afternoons. Crews that do attic work here generally schedule it for the morning, and it is fair to ask the contractor how they plan for the heat.
What about old insulation?
Moving boxes is one job; pulling or replacing insulation is another. If insulation is damaged, wet or has animal activity in it, that is a question for an insulation or pest contractor rather than a hauler.
Get the Attic Down
Describe roughly what is up there and how the attic is reached. The request goes to an independent hauling contractor serving Spring, who quotes it and schedules the carry-down.
